Adam Heath

Adam started guitar lessons at age 8 with Michelle Nelson, who taught him for thirteen years, guiding him through music examinations and general exploration of guitar styles. Adam’s musical tastes range from the classics such as Led Zeppelin, Neil Young, Jimi Hendrix, B.B. King, Deep Purple, Dire Straits, Pink Floyd, Guns N’ Roses to contemporary artists John Mayer, Jack Johnson, Mat. McHugh, Jack White, Current Swell and more.
Adam is an active recording and performing guitarist and has been a regular on the gig circuit since 2010 (when he was finally old enough to get into licensed venues!) He's currently lead guitarist for two bands, does session guitar work for a number of solo artists and also plays in acoustic duos.
His main band, Amber Isles, is predominantly acoustic with a post rock edge. They gig on a weekly basis and have just released their debut album, 'Perikope'. Their sound requires a melodic approach to lead playing; structured phrasing and good tone being essential components (no shredding!).
His other band, 'Saltiare', is a fusion of rock, funk, soul and blues. Playing lead in this high-energy group allows him to crank up the amp and showcase his full abilities.
As a teacher, Adam focuses on good technique along with the ability understand and read musical notation. He stresses the importance of being able to play a song right through, not just bits and pieces (something we feel very strongly about at MGT)!  Lessons are relaxed and enjoyable but with continual focus on the student’s musical progress.
